Halil Umut Meler si è ripreso dopo l'aggressione di qualche giorno fa quando il presidente dell’MKE Ankaragucu al termine di una partita lo ha preso a pugni. Il giudice di gara turco tornerà presto ad arbitrare non appena si sarà completamente ripreso. Per allora i campionati di calcio turchi dovrebbero essere ripresi dopo la sospensione a tempo indeterminato fortemente voluta dalla Federcalcio.
Un gesto che sicuramente farà discutere. Il presidente della Fifa Infantino ha definito l'incidente inaccettabile. Condanna anche da Pierluigi Collina, attualmente a capo del Comitato Arbitri della Fifa, che ha espresso la sua solidarietà a Umut Meler:
"Né l'arbitro né l'uomo meritavano di vivere quell'esperienza… Stava facendo il suo lavoro quando è stato aggredito sul campo di gioco alla fine di una partita che aveva appena arbitrato
Il presidente dell’MKE Ankaragucu, autore dell'aggressione, è stato rimosso dal suo incarico tempestivamente ed è in custodia cautelare presso la polizia. I campionati di calcio turchi restano ancora fermi fino a nuovo ordine.
