Mesi di pressioni politiche e richieste di dimissioni che si concludono con un nulla di fatto. Il cda della Harvard ha confermato la continuità della leadership della presidente Claudine Gay, a comunicarlo è l'organo di governo dell'università americana. Dopo una riunione straordinaria del cda ieri è stato deciso che la presidente Gay manterrà il suo posto.
Newyorkese di origine haitiana, la 53enne Gay è professoressa di scienze politiche e da luglio è diventata la prima presidente nera dell'Università di Harvard. In tanti hanno difeso Gay dopo le accuse di antisemitismo nei confronti del campus dopo gli attacchi del 7 ottobre e le manifestazioni studentesche dove in molti hanno inneggiato all'intifada. Non si tratta dell'unica università finita nell'occhio del ciclone dopo gli attacchi del 7 ottobre.
Ad accusare Gay sono stati principalmente i donatori e politici sia democratici che repubblicani che ritenevano che la presidente non avesse fatto nulla per contrastare episodi antisemiti e manifestazioni pro Palestina. Settanta membri del Congresso hanno chiesto a Gay di dimettersi dopo un'audizione parlamentare alla Camera dei Rappresentanti lo scorso 5 dicembre.
